The frugal finished film does not follow these instructions. Instead of dollying past a series of buildings, the film zooms in to introduce the neighborhood; instead of craning through a doorway, the camera cranes up to a darkened window, leading to a dissolve inside. Director Ted Tetzlaff explained that the exigencies of location filmmaking required constant changes.
