At first, the restless camera takes its cues from the bustling of the newsmen, but then the film isolates the lone woman by photographing her in a different style: a glamorously lit, stationary medium close-up. Following the logic of so many Hollywood films, as analyzed by Laura Mulvey, the men move through a three-dimensional space, whereas the woman is trapped in two-dimensional stasis.
