Although the film as a whole is now lost, the 25-second montage survives. Vorkapich superimposes the silhouettes of dancing chorus girls over dozens of city buildings—mostly from Los Angeles, in spite of the film’s New York City title. The joke is that the city appears to be dancing along with the women: in one shot, the camera cants back and forth, as if Los Angeles’s City Hall were a member of the chorus line.
