The opening shot of Alfred Green’s film Union Depot (Grand Hotel in a train station) takes full advantage of the crane’s heightened mobility. Rather than establish plot points, the elaborate camerawork establishes a breezy, cynical tone by stringing together a series of ethnic jokes.
