In 1956, the Chapman Studio Equipment Company designed a new crane for Cecil B. DeMille’s super-production The Ten Commandments, photographed in Hollywood and in Egypt on Paramount’s VistaVision format. The boom could rotate a full 360 degrees, and the crane could ascend to a height of twenty-eight feet.
