As the boom continues, we realize that the man is indeed our familiar hulk, and the threat rises. As the boom nears its end, Moose’s menace increases even more; he just keeps filling more and more of the frame! A straight cut would have revealed Moose’s presence right away, offering a jolt of surprise. The boom discloses the threat gradually, amplifying suspense.
