The Dynamic Frame: Camera Movement in Classical Hollywood

5.x23 The House on 92nd Street

When the voiceover explains that the shack was in a rural location, the camera pans from the ocean to the shack (shot 1). When the voiceover explains that Dietrich sent messages through the airwaves, the camera pans from Dietrich to his transmitter (shot 2). When the voiceover explains that the FBI intercepted his messages, the camera pans from the antenna to the FBI office (shot 3). Each pan reinforces a specific verbal claim: space to individual, individual to action, action to effect.
