In the opening scene, the “objective” camera introduces a busy city square. In the apartment above a shop, a large man is attacking the shop’s owner. Shockingly, the camera appears to become the murderer. With this mid-shot shift to subjective technique, director John Brahm appears to be saying, “Look how easily a film can get you to identify with a murderer.”
