At Universal, director Paul Fejos and cinematographer Hal Mohr worked with the Consolidated Steel Corporation to build an enormous crane for the early-sound-era musical Broadway. In this scene, the camera initially follows the dancers as they approach the stage. Then the camera vaults upward, abandoning the human perspective in favor of the go-anywhere ideal.
